The LENOX LE-30909VB9 VARI-BIT step drill bit drills three hole sizes in one bit — 7/8 in, 1-1/8 in and 1-7/32 in (22.2 / 28.6 / 31.0 mm), a hole size range of 7/8 in to 1-7/32 in (22.2–31.0 mm) — in steel, stainless steel, aluminium, copper, brass and plastics, for electrical, HVAC and fabrication work.

The bit is made from M52 high-speed steel (HSS) with precision-ground dual-flute cutting edges that produce clean, round holes with minimal burring; the PowerDrive™ tip starts on contact with no walking. The 3/8 in (9.5 mm) 3-flat shank fits standard drill chucks. Hole sizes are laser etched on the body for easy reading, and the manufacturer rates tool life at 2X the previous LENOX generation.
